Introduction - It was built in 1860 as Japan's first Orthodox shrine, "Lord's Resurrection Shrine." At first it was an annex to the Russian Consulate, but later it became the Orthodox Church in Japan. Currently designated as an important cultural property of Japan, many people visit it as one of the tourist bases of Hakodate City.
