Introduction - Founded in 1901. Initially, it was manufacturing oil lamps, but it has grown dramatically with the start of manufacturing glass buoys for herring fishing, which was booming. However, the business declined in the 1980s. After that, the permanent gallery for tourists, which was opened with the redevelopment of the Otaru Canal area, became popular and succeeded in converting the business format to selling glassware for consumers. Currently, in addition to manufacturing and selling glassware, it also sells restaurants, cafes, and alcoholic beverages such as sake and wine. The success of this conversion of a business format later spread throughout Japan, and glass craft museums for tourists were born in various places. At Kitaichi Glass's visit, you can enjoy not only shopping for glass crafts but also craft experiences and cosplay experiences.
